Weddington remains at No. 1 in the Observer’s Sweet 16 soccer poll for the third straight week.
The Warriors (11-1-1) are ranked No. 1 in the N.C. 3A state coaches poll and have not lost to a 3A team all season. Weddington has won 10 straight since tying 4A Charlotte Catholic 1-1 on Aug. 23 and losing 2-1 to Providence on Aug. 21.
Providence and Charlotte Catholic remained just behind Weddington in this week’s poll, at No. 2 and No. 3.
Two new teams joined this week: 3A Cox Mill (10-2-1) and private Providence Day (5-2).

Cox Mill, No. 15 in the N.C. 3A state coaches poll, has won nine straight games. Providence Day, which has been ranked several times this season, has won two straight and faces rival Charlotte Country Day on Friday at 7 in a key Charlotte Independent Schools conference game. Country Day is No. 11 in the poll.
