The 2016 Charlotte Hoops Challenge is moving to Rocky River High School and will feature four N.C. state champions. The tournament was held at Myers Park last year and attracted sold-out crowds.
The tournament, which will be held Nov. 25-26, includes N.C. Independent Schools 3A boys champion Providence Day, NCISAA 3A girls champion Providence Day, NCHSAA 3A state champ Concord Robinson and NCHSAA 4A state champion Charlotte Catholic.
Also in the field is Conrad Academy (FL), coached by former United Faith Christian Academy Shawn Wiseman. Wiseman led United Faith to back-to-back NCISAA 1A state championships in 2009 and ‘10. Conrad Academy features 6-10 Austin Wiley, a power forward commited to Auburn. ESPN ranks Wiley the No. 17 recruit in the class of 2017.
Wiley is transferring from Spain Park High in Hooveer, Ala. Last season he averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds for Spain Park, which was a Class 7A state finalist. He played on gold-medal winning USA Basketball team at the U17 World Championships.
