Celebrity dad LaVar Ball said he believes in “speaking things into existence” and he’s talked about the Los Angeles Lakers drafting his son, Lonzo, for a while.
And after Tuesday night’s NBA draft lottery, Lonzo to the Lakers seems like a real possibility.
Los Angeles will pick second in the draft behind Boston, which is expected to draft Markelle Fultz, a 6-foot-4 point guard from Washington.
LaVar Ball told a Los Angeles TV station that he believes Fultz is a great player, but it was perfect that his son would be drafted second because he’s worn No. 2 all his life (click here for video). As he spoke, he wore a baseball cap with his signature brand on the bill in the Lakers’ colors of purple and gold.
Ball was a guest on Fox Sports’ Undisputed Sports Talk Show Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, Bleacher Report released its first post lottery mock draft and, sure enough, it had Fultz going No. 1 to the Celtics, Ball to the Lakers and Duke’s Jayson Tatum going to the 76ers at No. 3.
As for Charlotte? Bleacher Report’s mock has the Hornets selecting another big man - Gonzaga freshman Zach Collins.
