The NBA unveiled a line of rainbow-colored T-shirts for every team for Pride Month this week.
The shirts are a collaboration between the NBA, GLSEN and Teespring and range between $24.95 for a T-shirt and $39.94 for a sweatshirt. Proceeds of the sales will benefit GLSEN, which has been partnering with the NBA since 2011.
"Professional sports showing up for LGBT people is one of the biggest cultural developments of the last decade, and really the last five years," GLSEN executive director Eliza Byard told Outsports. "The NBA has been showing up for LGBT youth and for GLSEN for a number of years. Having this be a league-wide initiative, knowing any LGBT fan in the country can choose to celebrate their team and themselves with one of those shirts, that's a whole new thing."
This is the first time a major league sports league has colored each of its team logos in rainbow, although Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League both have had some team logos included in a Pride line in the past.
