Charlotte Hornets power forward Cody Zeller was selected to a 13-man squad that will scrimmage with the U.S. National Team later this month in Las Vegas.
This “U.S. Select Team” gets young NBA players in the pipeline for later U.S. National Teams. Among others on the select squad: Former North Carolina player Harrison Barnes and former Duke big men Mason and Miles Plumlee.
The select team will train with the national team, again coached by Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, at UNLV’s Mendenhall Center July 28-31. From there the national team will play several exhibition games leading up to the World Cup in Spain Aug. 30 through Sept. 14.
