Carolina Panthers right tackle Nate Chandler was back at practice on Monday at Wofford College after missing Sunday’s practice with a knee injury, but the status of left tackle Byron Bell was a mystery.

Veteran Garry Williams replaced Bell during team drills at the end of practice. Rivera said he didn’t know exactly why the switch was made, although he said Bell had a minor knee issue flare up earlier at practice.

Three members of the defensive end rotation were out – Charles Johnson (hamstring), rookie Kony Ealy (left foot) and Mario Addison (stomach bug). Reserve offensive lineman Derek Dennis also sat out with flu-like symptoms.

Tight end Mike McNeill is sidelined with a sprained knee he sustained in the first exhibition. Strong safety Roman Harper remains out with turf toe.
