Saints-Panthers game on Nov. 8

14 minutes left in first quarter
DeAngelo Williams ran into the center of the line and broke free down the right side of the field for a 66-yard touchdown run on the game’s second play from scrimmage.

7:39 left in first quarter
Panthers linebacker Jon Beason recovered a fumble at the Saints’ 11 by New Orleans quarterback Drees Brees after Brees was sacked from behind by defensive end Tyler Brayton, setting up another TD run by Williams.

10:56 in second quarter
After a Jonathan Stewart fumble gave New Orleans the ball at the Carolina 16, Panthers cornerback Chris Gamble intercepted Brees and returned the ball 41 yards to the 45 to keep the Saints from scoring.

21 seconds left in second quarter
Brees completed a 45-yard pass to Marques Colston and drew a 7-yard penalty against Panthers’ defensive tackle Damione Lewis to move the ball to the Carolina 7 and set up a field goal before halftime.

13:20 left in third quarter
Devery Henderson took a medium-length pass from Drew Brees on third-and-3 and turned into a 63-yard gain that set up a quick Saints’ TD to start the second half.

4:17 left in third quarter
On first-and-goal from the 1, quarterback Jake Delhomme bobbled the ball when lead blocker Mackenzy Bernadeau was in the way. That kept Delhomme from handing off to running back Jonathan Stewart, resulting in a 6-yard loss that caused the Panthers to settle for a field goal.

Last play of third period
Saints receiver Robert Meachem beat Panthers cornerback Chris Gamble downfield to for a 54-yard touchdown pass to tie the score.

10:15 left in fourth period
Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis suffered a right knee injury. He had to leave the game, didn’t return and his status going forward is in question.

With the Panthers pinned deep in their own territory but hoping to mount a drive to get back in the game, Saints defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove stripped the ball from DeAngelo Williams at the 1, recovered it and scored a game-clinching touchdown.
