The Hounds take on Major League Lacrosse’s only undefeated team Saturday night in the second game of a three-game homestand. … Charlotte is trying to play its way out of a major slump after last week’s 19-13 loss to the Boston Cannons, the Hounds’ fourth straight defeat. … The Lizards, who were off last week, have been unstoppable through the first half of the MLL season, but their past four wins have come by three or fewer goals. … New York is loaded offensively, with Rob Pannell (14 goals), Paul Rabil (14), Matt Gibson (13) and Tommy Palasek (10) scoring at least 10 goals this season. … Charlotte attacker Joey Sankey was named the league’s rookie of the week after scoring five goals and assisting on three others in his MLL debut against the Cannons. … The Hounds take a battered lineup into this week’s game against New York. While midfielder Jake Tripucka returns, defender Brett Schmidt (groin injury) is expected to miss his second game. In addition, defender Michael Ehrhardt, faceoff specialist Brendan Fowler and attacker Mike Sawyer all spent time with the trainer during last week’s game. … An interesting matchup Saturday will be at the faceoff position between Fowler and the Lizards’ Greg Gurenlian. Gurenlian is the league leader in faceoffs (79.7 percent, 110 of 138), while Fowler is third in the MLL (59.3 percent, 99 of 167).
