PGA Championship update at 5:45
Play is scheduled to resume at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club at 6:25 p.m., following a Friday afternoon weather delay.
Play was suspended at 4:45, when a storm system passed through South Charlotte, with the threat of lightning and sometimes heavy rain.
When play was suspended, the last five three-player groupings of the second round had not started their second nine holes.
Never miss a local story.
Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama was making a run on leader Kevin Kisner of Aiken, S.C. Kisner shot back-to-back 67s in his first two rounds. Matsuyama, ranked third in the world, was 5 under for the round when play was suspended and 6 under for the tournament, two strokes behind Kisner. Matsuyama had completed 14 holes Friday when play was suspended.
Kisner made an eagle on the par-5 No. 7 hole and finished the front nine with a 33 Friday.
Kisner was tied with Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen after Thursday’s first round.
Kisner started his second round on the back nine, where he shot 34, with birdies on Nos. 10, 12 and 15. His only bogey in that run was on hole No. 13, a par 3.
