RALEIGH David Perron had two goals, Yan Stastny and Jay McClement scored 16 seconds apart, and Chris Mason made 34 saves to help the St. Louis Blues beat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 Wednesday night.
Stastny and McClement gave St. Louis - 3-1-1 on the road - a 3-0 lead before Joe Corvo scored for Carolina on a first-period slap shot.
Perron, who sealed the win with an empty-netter, opened the scoring at 7minutes, 32seconds of the first. He followed Patrik Berglund's shot and managed to put the puck past Cam Ward.
Stastny and McClement added first-period goals, marking the fifth time this season the Hurricanes allowed two goals less than a minute apart.
Scott Walker batted in his own rebound midway through the third, closing the gap to 4-2. The Hurricanes had other chances but came up empty on six other power plays.
Carolina is 0-4-3 since Oct.9.
ISLANDERS 3, RANGERS 1: Captain Doug Weight, in his first game back after missing three with swine flu, earned an assist on Kyle Okposo's tie-breaking, power-play goal with 1:46 left in the second period for host New York.
SABRES 4, DEVILS 1: Clarke MacArthur needed 81 seconds to give Buffalo the lead, and rookie Tim Kennedy got his first NHL goal at the six-minute mark to help beat New Jersey and keep the Sabres unbeaten on the road.
COYOTES 4, BLUE JACKETS 1: Martin Hanzal, Zbynek Michalek and Robert Lang scored power-play goals and former Charlotte Checkers goalie Jason LaBarbera stopped 31 shots for Phoenix at Columbus.
SENATORS 4, PANTHERS 3: Nick Foligno and Jarkko Ruutu scored within a 38-second span late in the second to help Ottawa build a 4-2 lead at Florida.
PENGUINS 6, CANADIENS 1: Sidney Crosby had a hat trick during the first 36 minutes, and host Pittsburgh became the first NHL team to reach 10 victories by snapping Montreal's four-game winning streak.
STARS 4, MAPLE LEAFS 3 (OT): Rookie Jonas Gustavsson stopped Stephane Robidas' shot from long range, but James Neal knocked in the rebound for his first overtime goal, giving host Dallas a victory against Toronto.
PREDATORS 4, WILD 3: Jerred Smithson's short-handed goal midway through the third period at Minnesota gave Nashville its first regulation victory since Oct.8 against Colorado.
Notes
ANAHEIM: Left wing Kyle Calder, a nine-year NHL veteran released late in training camp, has signed a one-year contract and was assigned to the Ducks' ECHL affiliate in Bakersfield.
VANCOUVER: Goalie Roberto Luongo isn't sure how long he'll be out with a hairline fracture in one of his ribs, but he expects to be back much quicker than the 24 games it took him to recover from a groin injury last season.
WASHINGTON: The Capitals said forward Quintin Laing has the swine flu, adding that he is being treated for H1N1 and is being kept away from the rest of the team. Edmonton defenseman Ladislav Smid and Colorado goalie Peter Budaj also have the swine flu, their teams announced Tuesday. OBSERVER NEWS SERVICES
