SHELBY In the World Series opener, Jonesboro, Ark. defeated Omaha, Neb., 13-8.
Jonesboro scored six in the fourth inning, led by Jonathan Walker's triple and Brandt Arender's double.
For the game, Walker had three RBIs on two hits.
Billy Ninemire earned the win on the final 31/3 innings.
MIDLAND, MICH. 15, BRISTOL, CONN. 5: In the day's second game, Midland scored in every inning but the eighth.
Shortstop Jordan Dean went 4-for-6 with five RBIs, and scored three runs.
Pitcher Ben Singer got the win after 31/3 innings in which he gave up four hits but no runs.
LAS VEGAS 10, PASCO, WASH. 8: Las Vegas scored six in the second inning. Pasco chipped away but could not overtake the lead (four errors didn't help).
The game between Sumter, S.C. and South Richmond, Va., was not completed in time for this edition.
