Many events and driver appearances are scheduled for Bank of America 500 race week.
Wednesday
Wristbands will be handed out to the first 350 people beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday for an autograph session for Carl Edwards at the Office Depot store at The Village at University Place, 8658 J.W. Clay Blvd., in Charlotte. Edwards will be at the store signing autographs from 7 to 9 Wednesday night.
Volunteers from Penske Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, The Home Depot and KaBOOM! will build a playground at Pine Lake Preparatory School in Mooresville as part of Don Miller's recognition as the winner of the inaugural NASCAR Home Depot Humanitarian Award. The one-day build begins at 8 a.m. The ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya, David Stremme, Ron Hornaday, Aric Almirola and other NASCAR drivers and celebrities will be “locked up” at Brickhouse Tavern in Davidson in a “Jail and Bail” charity event to raise money for the Brienne Davis Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $5 at the door.
Rusty Wallace and his son, Steve Wallace, will sign autographs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Rushco Food Stores location at 2850 South Cannon Blvd. in Kannapolis.
Jeff Burton will sign autographs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the AT&T Retail Store at Northcross Shopping Center, 9932 Knockando Lane, Suite 120, in Huntersville.
Thursday
Roush Fenway Racing's fan appreciation day at the team's complex near the Concord Regional Airport will include sponsor displays along with question-and-answer sessions with the team's drivers as well as team owner Jack Roush. Tickets for driver autograph sessions will be handed out beginning at 8 a.m. Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards and Jamie McMurray will sign from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. with a 15-minute Q&A session to follow. Roush, Travis Kvapil, Erik Darnell, Colin Braun and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will sign from 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. with a Q&A session to follow.
Wristbands for an autograph session at Michael Waltrip Racing will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Michael Waltrip Racing's Raceworld USA attraction at 20310 Chartwell Center Driver in Cornelius. Only 300 will be distributed. The autograph session will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday with David Reutimann, Michael McDowell and Josh Wise signing
Friday
Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, Ned Jarrett and Rusty Wallace will be among the drivers who'll help the with the public launch of the NASCAR Hall of Fame's commemorative brick program at a 10:30 a.m. news conference at the Charlotte Convention Center Plaza. The bricks can be personalized with the purchaser's name and message, with the image of more than 40 drivers who've signed up to participate or with logos of a fan's favorite race track. Dale Earnhardt Inc. drivers Martin Truex Jr., Paul Menard, Aric Almirola and Regan Smith along with developmental drivers for the company will sign autographs. The first 300 fans in line at 8 a.m. will get wristbands for the autograph session, which begins at 10.
Joe Gibbs Racing will hold its seventh annual fan fest from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the team's headquarters in Huntersville. Drivers Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Marc Davis will be there to sign autographs. Fans wanting an autograph from Stewart, Busch or Hamlin must make a $20 donation. An autograph from Logano requires a $10 donation. Proceeds will be donated to the Mooresville Soup Kitchen. Donation lines will open at 8:30 a.m. and the first 300 fans requesting autographs from each driver will be issued a bracelet and directed to the proper line. Donations will be cash only – no credit cards or checks will be accepted. Busch, Hamlin and Logano will sign between 9 and 11 a.m. Stewart's session will be at noon. There will be displays, a raffle and a silent auction and refreshments will be for sale.
Monday
Dale Earnhardt Jr., Dale Jarrett, Elliott Sadler, Kerry Earnhardt, Brad Keselowski, Landon Cassill and PGA Tour golfer Boo Weekley are among those scheduled to attend the Dale Earnhardt Jr. Foundation's celebrity charity event and auction at the Concord Convention Center inside the Embassy Suites hotel.
