Observations | BC - UNC

Talk about being a “specialist.” Sophomore Trase Jones – a walk-on who holds for extra points and field goals, and who is listed as a punter/place kicker, returned three punts for 17 yards against Boston College.

Coach Butch Davis said he made the change because he wanted to rest cornerback Kendric Burney, who had been returning punts since Brandon Tate was injured. “The trust in him to catch every single extra point and field goal – he's got the best hands, or he wouldn't be doing that job,” coach Butch Davis said.

It's probably about time to stop questioning UNC quarterback Cameron Sexton's arm strength. The mobile junior tossed three touchdowns on Saturday, including a 40-yarder that found Hakeem Nicks already running into the end zone. “He throws the ball deep and he pushes the ball down the field, and he's made some good plays,” Davis said.

Despite the victory, UNC's two-minute defense continues to struggle. With 2:10 left in the half, the Tar Heels allowed the Eagles to march 67 yards in six plays, culminating with a 9-yard touchdown to tie the game 17-17.
