Dark horse: Pfeiffer (21-8, 15-5)
Player to watch: Kendrick Easley, Jr. G, Mt. Olive
Tournament: Feb. 28-March 8, at higher seeds.
Outlook: Mount Olive has a new coach (Joey Higginbotham) but returns a batch of quality guards starting with Easley (16.9 ppg). Pfeiffer has nine players back from a 21-8 team.
MEAC
Favorite: Morgan St. (22-11, 14-2)
Dark horse: South Carolina St. (13-20, 7-9)
Player to watch: Tywain McKee, Jr. G, Coppin St.
Tournament: March 9-14, Joel Coliseum, Winston-Salem.
Outlook: Remember ex-California coach Todd Bozeman? He's hot again at Morgan State, winning the regular season there last season. Most observers expect the Bears to do it once more; they're heavily favored over runner-up Hampton.
