Pinehurst will host golf's ultimate doubleheader in 2014.
On Monday, the U.S. Golf Association will announce that Pinehurst No.2, already slated to host the 2014 U.S. Open, will also host the U.S. Women's Open – the week after the men's event is played.
It will be the first time both Opens have been played on the same site on consecutive weeks.
An official announcement is expected Monday.
The Women's Open is conditional upon final approval from local officials in Pinehurst and the USGA Executive Committee, both of which are expected to be formalities.
By playing both Opens at the same site over two weeks, officials hope to maximize fan interest and media attention, in addition to saving money because it won't require building separate physical structures at two sites.
