For some breweries, it’s custom bar stools. For others, it’s authentic German biergarten tables.
But the piece of furniture most revered at Lagunitas Brewing Co. is the humble couch. Whether you visit the original location in Petaluma, California or the newer facility in Chicago, you’ll find couches of varying fabrics and colors.
The brewery is bringing some of those couches to The Fillmore in Charlotte this Friday as part of its CouchTrippin’ tour, which is rolling through five cities across the United States this year on its way to a final destination of Austin.
A couch will be parked in front of a green screen to provide a photo op for fans. Of course, the folks at Lagunitas aren’t making a cross-country pilgrimage just to share their love of a good sofa. They’re also bringing a variety of bands with them along the way.
Joining them at The Fillmore this Friday night will be The Black Angels, with opening guests The Wet Secrets. There will also be “freaktacular” entertainment courtesy of the tour’s Beer Circus.
And, of course, there will be beer as well. The taps will all be dedicated to Lagunitas for the event, with the brewery’s IPA, Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’, Pils, Dogtown Pale Ale and an unannounced seasonal beer on draft.
Don’t go scroungin’ around in your own couch for coins just yet though — this show’s free (and rumor is some of the beer might be as well). If you plan on going, RSVP through the Eventbrite page.
The CouchTrippin’ stops benefit O+ Festivals, a nonprofit organization that “connects musicians, artists, and heath & wellness providers for weekend-long celebrations featuring concerts and performances, art making, and wellness offerings for the entire community.”
