Want a year-supply of macarons from Amelie’s? Just find this rock in Charlotte
Charlotte bakery fans have a chance to score free macarons for a year as part of a new pineapple-themed treasure hunt in uptown.
This week, Dole Food Company has partnered with Amelie’s for a pineapple-themed treasure hunt. Hand-painted Pineapple Inspiration Rocks are hidden throughout the bakery, including one gold-painted rock that can be redeemed for a “Free Amelie’s Macarons for a Year” prize package valued at more than $300.
The promotion is part of Dole’s “Positively Rocks Charlotte” campaign, a summer-long celebration marking the company’s 125th anniversary in the pineapple business. Throughout June and July, Dole plans to hide 125 pineapple-themed rocks around Charlotte and inside participating uptown businesses, with some rocks redeemable for prizes, food, merchandise and fresh pineapples.
How the pineapple hunt works
Amelie’s is the first stop in the weekly treasure hunt, which runs through June 12 at the bakery’s uptown location.
Customers who find the special gold pineapple rock can scan a QR code attached to it to claim the free-macarons-for-a-year prize. Dole said it will post clues about the rocks’ locations on its social media channels throughout the week.
To celebrate the partnership, Amelie’s has also created a limited-time pineapple macaron inspired by Dole pineapples.
Additional uptown businesses participating in the treasure hunt this summer include Johnny Burrito, Rhino Market & Deli, Coco and the Director, Devon & Blakely, Paper Skyscraper and Geno D’s Pizza.
The campaign will be centered around International Pineapple Day on June 27, which Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles has proclaimed “Charlotte Pineapple Day” in honor of Dole’s headquarters being located in uptown Charlotte.
