Hootie & the Blowfish are reuniting for an appearance on “The Late Show” with David Letterman.

Letterman, who is taping his last of his late-night talk shows this month, is welcoming the band members back for an appearance Thursday, according to a blog on CMT.

Letterman was one of the South Carolina band’s biggest boosters, declaring after a Sept. 2, 1984 appearance on the show that that “Cracked Rear View” was one of the best albums he had ever heard.

The appearance brought national prominence to the band, which returned to Columbia right after the taping to appear in concert.
