U.S. National Whitewater Center, 5000 Whitewater Center ParkwayThursday, 6:30 - 8 p.m.: Ever want to try swimming the Catawba River? The U.S. National Whitewater Center’s 200-meter course is intended for people who know how to swim – there is no lifeguard on duty. When you’re done splashing, head to the River Jam concert series, which begins at 7 p.m. Parking $5, but both events are free. www.usnwc.org
