A sampling of your favorite places to hang out in the Charlotte area:

Neighborhood uptown

Uptown Charlotte. I enjoy going to the Mint Museum of Craft & Design, then getting a cup of coffee at Starbucks and just sitting on a bench and people-watching. Walking through The Green, admiring all the new and old buildings and churches – it is all very comforting to me. I have seen much growth over the last 10 years, and I love to stop at times and just take it all in!

Restaurant Southern food

Woods on South, which once was South End Brewery. Great food, super choice of craft beers on tap, and a very pleasant atmosphere.

Dave Center

Concord

Restaurant Mexican

My fiancée and I frequent Cantina 1511 on East Boulevard. There is usually a decent wait Friday or Saturday night, but we don't mind relaxing in the bar, sipping on the newest Sangria concoction. It is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Charlotte.

Nightlife Bar

Whisky River. It's a great crowd, atmosphere and location, and something different than the normal Buckhead, Forum, Dixie's, etc. (although I still do love to go to all of those places). Charlotte has needed a different type of bar, like Whisky, to shake things up a little bit – and I think the entire Epicenter will do that.

Family Fun Uptown

The Seventh Street Station/ImaginOn area. My kids love to “play” the building by touching the pink panels and hearing the fun noises, and jump on all the fun things in the front of ImaginOn. While they do that, we grown-ups can relax with some coffee from Reid's Fine Foods and watch the fun!
