Brixx (multiple locations) is cranking up its MBA program – that's Master's of Beer Appreciation – for 2008.
The “curriculum” covers 21 beers selected by Brixx and 11 “electives”: local or seasonal beers that vary by location. After each new beer, students receive a stamp on their MBA cards.
To earn the degree, students must sample 32 different beers and attend one extracurricular activity, such as a beer dinner, beer tasting or brewery tour.
Graduates get a gift and a Brixx Bash – a party in their honor that includes $50 worth of free pizza and appetizers. Locations: brixxpizza.com.

Half-price deal at McIntosh's
McIntosh's (1812 South Blvd.) halves the prices on all its appetizers served in the bar or patio from 5-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday this summer. Proprietor Greg McIntosh aims at getting diners to consider his place a gathering spot for small plates and drinks, as well as a special-occasion restaurant.
