See the eastside, taste the world on 1 bus ride

Taste of the World VI serves up a tour of east Charlotte and food from about 20 restaurants Thursday, in one of Charlotte's neater little ongoing ventures.

Tour-goers begin with a reception at the Charlotte Museum of History, then hop aboard buses. Each bus has a guide, and stops at three of the area's internationally representative dining spots. Part of the fun is that you don't know which you'll get. Afterward, diners meet up for dessert and coffee at the VanLandingham Estate in Plaza Midwood.

New to the tour this year are Café Central (Spanish, with paella planned), Conga Cuban Café and Portofino's (Italian). Other participants include Ben Thanh (Vietnamese), Brazas (Brazilian), Dim Sum (Chinese), Fu Lin (Asian), Jerusalem, Korea, Mama's Caribbean Grill, Middle East Deli, Namaste (Indian), Pizza & More, Pollo Inka (Peruvian), Pollos Mario (Colombian), Valentino's (Mexican) and Woodlands (vegetarian Indian).

The event traditionally sells out, so be quick, if you're interested.

Cost is $40. Info: www.charlotte east.com or call 704-716-6619.
