Paula Deen: Maid stole $100,000 in jewelry

Celebrity chef Paula Deen is accusing her maid of stealing nearly $100,000 in jewelry from Deen's home, television station WTOC is reporting in Savannah, Ga.

The report, on WTOC's website, says Deen's husband, Michael Groover, told police the couple's house keeper, Mary Alice White, stole approximately $100,000 in jewelry and other items. The thefts allegedly happened over a period of about 10 months.

Some national news outlets reported $10,000 in items were stolen, but WTOC confirmed with Savannah-Chatham Metro Police it was indeed closer to $100,000, WTOC reported.

Deen fired the housekeeper after learning of the thefts, the TV station reported. Police arrested White in May on felony charges.
