Leaders of the cultural community and other arts backers converged on Founders Hall on Wednesday to launch the Arts & Science Council's annual fundraising campaign.
As it does each year, the ASC will raise money to be distributed to dozens of Mecklenburg cultural groups. This year's goal is $7.3 million.
The ASC also hopes to raise an additional $1 million to help bring back arts-related field trips and other education programs that fell to budget-cuts at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. The campaigns run through March 25.
