'Hunger Games' debuts trailer at VMAs

The anticipated movie "Hunger Games" debuted a teaser trailer at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence, who was not at the awards show due to the movie production, gave viewers a very quick glimpse of the movie. In the flick, Lawrence plays the lead role of Katniss Everdeen.

"Like so many of you, I'm a huge fan of these books and I can't wait to share the movie with you in March," Lawrence said in the trailer.

Production for the movie has taken place at a few locations in and around the Charlotte area over the past few weeks, including at the Knight Theater at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in uptown in early August and the Phillip Morris Plant in Concord last week.

"Hunger Games" includes actors Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland and Lenny Kravitz. Lawrence plays the role of a young girl who takes her sister's place in a real-life survival contest.

The movie is based on the novel of the same name and is expected to be released March 23, 2012.
