Last Reynolds Price memoir will be published next year

A memoir that Reynolds Price was working on at the time of his death will be published next year, with a foreword by Anne Tyler.

Scribner spokesman Brian Belfiglio said that "Midstream: An Unfinished Memoir" would come out in May.

The book is billed as "the fourth and final memoir" by the acclaimed Price, who died in January at age 77. He published more than three dozen books, including novels, plays, memoirs, essays, translations and poetry. He was best-known for such novels as "A Long and Happy Life" and for the memoir "Clear Pictures."

Tyler, author of "The Accidental Tourist" and the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Breathing Lessons," studied under Price at Duke University.

A Warren County native, Price arrived at Duke as a freshman in 1951 and never left except when he attended Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.
