Reading Matters

Salisbury’s Reading Rendevous draws Charlotte writers and more

You don’t want to miss this.

The 2nd annual Reading Rendevous is Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a short ride up I-85 to Salisbury.

You’ll think I’m just name-dropping when I tell you who’ll be on hand:

Popular former Observer columnist Dot Jackson; former WBTV news anchor Bob Inman; award-winning mystery writer Mark de Castrique; and Queens novelist Sarah Creech.

That’s not all. Raleigh’s Kim Church, author of one of my top favorte 2014 novels, “Byrd,” will speak at 2:15.

Add to the list the impressive novelist Jason Mott; the prolific Michael Parker; the award-winning YA writer Jenny Hubbard; and the wildly funny short story writer George Singleton.

The tentative speaking schedule is:

10:30 -- Anna Jean Mayhew

11:15 -- Bob Inman

Noon -- Dot Jackson

12:45 -- Charlie Lovett

1:30 -- George Singleton

2:15 -- Kim Church

3:00 -- Jason Mott

The event will take place at the Rowan Public Library Headquarters, 201 W. Fisher St.
