This free summer program explores culture through food, music, art and dance. Sunday’s event celebrates Latin America with a band and dance instructors. Come ready to move! Registration online. All guests can tour the museum for free. If you park at Seventh Street Station, bring your ticket for validation and parking will be free, too.


Story Slam

Sat 7:30 p.m. Frock Shop, 901 Central Ave.

Charlotte Storytellers present their second Story Slam, playing on the theme of “Home.” Before the stories, there will be “boozy storytelling games,” where you can win prizes. This is an event for adults. Bring your own pillow. And although it’s free, donations benefit Arts Empowerment Project.

This series of free events is intended to bring the community together in remembrance of the nine victims of the Charleston shootings, with a call to action for justice and equality. Performing: On Q Productions, One Voice Chorus, The Possibility Project – Charlotte, A Sign of the Times of the Carolinas and XOXO.


Country Blues Workshop

Teens and adults can learn about blues music from the 1920s and 1930s and enjoy a special performance by Sidewalk Bob, a member of the Charlotte Blues Society. Call to register or register on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library website.
