Seven-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood, known in some circles as the reigning queen of country music, will be in Charlotte later this year to headline the Belk Bowl.

The former American Idol champion, whose repertoire includes songs like “Jesus, Take The Wheel,” “Before He Cheats” and “Good Girl,” is scheduled to perform at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 30, two hours before the bowl kicks off at 3:30 p.m., according to a news release.

In its 14th year, this year’s bowl will again feature a match-up of the Southeastern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference.

“We look forward to a dynamic and high-energy performance that will be the perfect launch to our game day,” Jon Pollack, Belk’s executive vice president of sales promotion, marketing and eCommerce, said in a statement.

This year’s FanFest event is free to the public. Tickets for the bowl go on sale in early October and will be available through TicketMaster and the participating schools.

Underwood is no stranger to the Queen City concert scene. In 2012, she performed at the Time Warner Cable Arena as part of her North American arena tour.
