Lucky Dog Bark and Brew

A dog day care/boarding facility that doubles as a sports bar opens April 1 at 2220 Thrift Road, in Charlotte’s up-and-coming West Morehead area. It’s got separate indoor and outdoor play areas for big and small dogs as well as 20 taps and 16 televisions for humans.


Reid’s (4331 Barclay Downs Drive) hosts a Spain vs. France wine dinner March 10. The three-course meal paired with Eric Solomon wines is $70. Reservations: 704-377-7686.

Terrace Cafe

Both locations of Terrace Café have new menus. New for dinner are a Cajun Oscar filet, beef brisket and ribs. Locations:


Passion8 (1523 Elizabeth Ave.) has named Brett Levan chef de cuisine. Levan studied at Johnson & Wales and has worked at numerous restaurants including The Mirage in Las Vegas and Halcyon in Charlotte. Pastry chef Alyssa Stutzman studied at Johnson & Wales and will launch her new dessert menu at Passion8 March 14.

Every Friday during Lent Passion8 is offering four courses of fish for $55. Reservations: 704-910-3161.

The Flipside Restaurant

The Flipside Restaurant (129 Caldwell St., Rock Hill) will host a Benford Brewing beer dinner March 9. Five courses with beer pairings are $48. Reservations: 803-324-3547.

Rita’s Italian Ice

All Charlotte locations of Rita’s will celebrate the first day of spring by serving free Italian ice March 20 during regular business hours.

Big View Diner

Big View Diner (16637 Lancaster Highway) will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with corned beef and cabbage, Guinness and Irish whiskey specials March 17. Reservations: 704-544-0313.

Galway Hooker

Galway Hooker (17044 Kenton Drive, Cornelius) will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day March 12-17. A block party March 12 will feature live music, food trucks, Irish dancers and over 20 craft and vendor booths, followed by a Hair of the Dog brunch March 13. On March 17 the party starts with kegs and eggs at 8 a.m., followed by live music, lawn games and more all day long. Schedule:

RiRa Irish Pub

RiRa (208 N. Tryon St.) will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day March 12-20 with live music, drink specials and Irish fare. Two Irish bands flown in from Ireland will perform throughout the week: March 12-13 will feature the Brayzen Heads, and Cumasc Gael will perform March 16-18. On March 17 and March 19, live music, festivities and Irish dancers begin at noon and run all day long.
