To warm up for N.C. Beer Month (April, for you non-sudsters), JJ’s Red Hots will offer Brew Dogs for the third straight year, in an expanded version that began today.
The restaurant does “Dogs of the Week” through May, collaborating with area brewmasters and retailers to pair a specific brew with a specialty hot dog. First up: The Beer Growler banger, a dog with borracho beans, sauteed onions, cole slaw and housemade ancho barbecue sauce, served with Unknown Brewing’s Pre-Game Session Ale from The Beer Growler (retailer).
Next week: The Ding Dong Dog, with yuzu- and sriracha-infused chili, Asian slaw and scallions, served with NoDa Brewing’s Cavu Blonde Ale from Brew Publik.
The final offering, May 25-31, will be You Got Roasted: A grilled “Leanie’s: veggie dog with roasted poblano peppers, grilled tomatoes and roasted garlic, with Jalapeno Pale Ale mustard, served with Birdsong Brewing’s Jalapeno Pale Ale. The whole list is at www.facebook.com/events/535842143225259/.
