‘Baked Charlotte’ debuts

Baked Charlotte

Flagstones, the Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark Hotel’s restaurant, has begun serving a thing called a Baked Charlotte. It’s been claimed that this trifle-like dessert of buttered bread and apples was invented for Queen Charlotte Mecklenburg-Stretlitz (you know, our namesake). Here, it’s made with white bread from Nova’s bakery, a Granny Smith apple and orange marmalade filling and topped with locally produced Cloister honey.

Chef Scott Spaulding, who’s got a new menu out as well, calls his lineup “regional Continental cuisine with a Southern touch,” with more shareable plates and eclectic desserts.
