Chef-owner Bernard Brunet’s Global turns nine years old this summer and celebrates with ... a move to Pineville.

It’ll go into a historic property at 314 Main St., about eight minutes from its longtime Ballantyne location at 3520 Toringdon Way. Last dinner service at the original location will be June 20; you can get details on the menu for that evening at the website: www.global-restaurant.com. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Says Brunet: “We’ve been looking for so long and I wanted something small ... that is very hard in this area.” Construction should start about the same time as they close on Toringdon. The building is from the 1920s and is two stories; the dining room will be upstairs. “The first floor used to be a bank, we’re told,” says Brunet. “We decided to keep the vault and keep the wine cellar in there. Downstairs, no tablecloth, a more bistro feel: bar, and a bit more casual.” He expects to open late summer.
