Corkbuzz hosts a winemaker dinner Sept. 20 with Maria Sinskey of Robert Sinskey Vineyards, whose wines draw from 100 percent organic biodynamic grapes and whose philosophy is described as “wine is not an athletic event.” (I know, right?) The menu begins with herbed rabbit sausage with fermented Brussels sprouts and Pinot Noir Vin Gris ’14, Los Carneros, and follows with carrot pappardelle and confit pork shoulder with Carneros Pinot Noir ’12, Los Carneros; pheasant with cherry chocolate sauce and POV ‘10 (a signature Sinskey blend), Napa Valley; and grilled vanilla brioche with caramel custard, raisin chutney, rum anglaise and Abraxas ’13, Scintilla, Sonoma Vineyard. Cost is $118 plus tax. Reservations online here.
And Charlotte’s Palm hosts three Charlotte breweries Sept. 18: Triple C, Birdsong and Olde Mecklenburg, with brewmasters in attendance and what they’re calling a “Palm Pub style menu”: onion rings with spicy remoulade and Triple C’s Golden Boy blonde ale; arugula salad with poached pears and goat cheese with Birdsong’s Doin Thyme Witbier; beef short ribs braised in OMB’s Copper or Copper-battered flounder fish ‘n’ chips with Copper; and a beer-filled dessert array plus OMB Mecktoberfest. $60 plus tax and tip; reservations at 704-552-7450 or firstname.lastname@example.org; the Palm is at 6705-B Phillips Place Court.
