Charlotte restaurateur to open Middle Eastern restaurant in SouthPark

Middle Eastern restaurant in SouthPark

Charlotte restaurateur Frank Scibelli will open a new restaurant called Yafo Kitchen in SouthPark’s Morrison Place in early 2016. The restaurant will feature Mediterranean fare like shawarma-spiced rotisserie chicken and baba ganoush. Scibelli’s other area ventures include Mama Ricotta’s and Midwood Smokehouse.

Terra closes

French restaurant Terra has closed its doors at 545-B Providence Road. The bistro, run by Thierry Garconnet, announced its closure on its Facebook page this week. It’s unclear why the bistro closed or what will take its place. Terra specialized in traditional French fare including escargot and steamed mussels. Katherine Peralta

Red Rocks Cafe Santa brunch

Red Rocks (4223 Providence Road) hosts brunch with Santa from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Dec. 12. Brunch items will be offered along with their regular menu; reserve at 704-364-0402.

Vivace feast

The Feast of the Seven Fishes is planned at Vivace (1100 Metropolitan Ave.) Dec. 22 - 24. The seven course, fish-based dinner menu features squid ink risotto, lobster ravioli and swordfish scaloppini. Cost for the feast is $55; $75 with wine pairings. Reserve: 704-370-7755.

Stagioni Christmas Eve dinner

Christmas Eve dinner will be served at Stagioni (715 Providence Road) from 5 - 8 p.m on Dec. 24. A five course, family style menu will offer antipasto, pasta, whole roasted fish and more. Cost is $60 for adults and $25 for kids under 12; reserve at 704-372-8110.

Blue Restaurant & Bar Christmas Eve dinner

Blue (206 N. College Street) will serve a three course Christmas Eve dinner from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Dec. 24. Cost of $39.95 includes choice of salad or soup, an entrée of grilled bison ribeye or baked stuffed lobster and dessert. Reserve: 704-927-2583.

Summit Coffee Co. opening roastery

Summit Coffee Co. is opening their roastery (18635 Starcreek Drive, Cornelius) Thurs. – Sat. through Dec. 19 for tours, a holiday pop-up café and gift shop. The shop will feature home brewing equipment, gift boxes and Summit merchandise; an espresso bar will also be open. Hours are Thurs. and Fri. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sat. 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
