Wolfgang Puck tries again in CLT

Nationally known chef Wolfgang Puck is going to take another swing at a Charlotte concept, changing his current Pizza Bar at Phillips Place into WP Kitchen + Bar. That’s an idea that he’s done in Palm Desert, Calif., and in Greensboro, and “we’ve had such a great response to our other two locations ... (we) are excited to introduce the concept to the city of Charlotte,” he said in a news release.

Look for global influences based on “how Wolfgang entertains at home with family and friends” and for exec chef Stephen Schmitt, who joined the Pizza Bar plan back in ‘12.

Lunch ($13-$28) will include soups, salads, sandwiches and sharing plates (think kale and spinach with farro; smoked salmon bruschetta; chicken sandwich with blue cheese and kimchee slaw; housemade pizzas and more). Dinner ($14-$36) is a larger lineup, adding chicken with shishito peppers and several steak options. Sweets range from salted caramel pudding with crème fraiche whipped cream and brown sugar, to molten chocolate cake. Wines, craft beers and signature cocktails complete the standards list (SouthPark Sour = bourbon, maple syrup, sage and lemon).

A bar menu is on the way, for 3-6 p.m. daily.
