A cast of all female chefs will put on the upcoming No Kid Hungry Dinner Sept. 17 at Mimosa Grill, benefitting a national program aimed at stopping childhood hunger.
Look for Charlotte’s Alyssa Wilen, plus Laura Maniec of Corkbuzz (in Charlotte and NYC) serving as sommelier – plus Ashley Auer of Cooks & Soldiers in Atlanta, Lindsay Autry of The Regional Kitchen & Public House (slated to open soon in West Palm Beach) and Annie Pettry of Decca Restaurant in Louisville. Also on the crew: mixologist Madison Burch of Tavernpointe, Seven Lamps and GRAIN in Atlanta,.
Tom Sasser of Harper’s Restaurant Group, Craig Utt of Axis Marketing Group, and Allyson
Colaço of Carolina CAT are chairing the event, and Sasser’s company chefs Thomas Marlow (Mimosa) and Scott Wallen (Upstream) will do hors d’oeuvres for the cocktail reception before dinner. Also on tap: a live auction.

No Kid Hungry works to help feed kids nationally – in North Carolina, the group says, more than 26 percent of kids struggle with hunger – by providing education about shopping and cooking as well as food. Community Culinary School of Charlotte and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina are local beneficiaries.
