What to Watch on Tuesday: ABC comedy block adds ‘American Housewife’

American Housewife (8:30 p.m., ABC) – It’s a big night for ABC sitcom premieres, including this very funny new series in which a middle-class mom (Katy Mixon) tries to keep her kids from becoming shallow and vain, like the rest of their Westport, Conn., neighbors. (It might be too late for a couple of them.)

The Middle (8 p.m., ABC) – In the Season 8 opener, Frankie and Mike discover the love of Axl’s life has a quirky personality trait.

Fresh Off the Boat (9 p.m., ABC) – Louis takes the entire family to Taiwan to patch things up with Gene in the Season 3 premiere.

This is Us (9 p.m, NBC) Rebecca unexpectedly encounters Randall’s biological father.

No Tomorrow (9 p.m., CW) – Xavier’s escaped convict cousin wants to move in with him, and Evie faces the possibility of losing her job.

The Real O’Neals (9:30 p.m., ABC) – Kenny starts the first LGBT club at St. Barklay’s School in the Season 2 opener.

Frontline: Confronting ISIS (9 p.m., UNC-TV) – The successes, failures and challenges of the U.S.-led effort to destroy the Islamic State Group.

Chicago Fire (10 p.m., NBC) – In the Season 5 premiere, tensions between Borelli and Boden reach a boiling point.
