Tower (10 p.m., UNC-TV) – This Independent Lens documentary talks to the survivors of the 1966 mass shooting at the University of Texas, who offer perspectives on the impact of the day. The story of the sniper attack, which left 16 dead and three dozen wounded, is told in an extremely compelling style that combines interviews, actual film footage and animated recreations. I highly recommend this one.

Also on tonight . . .

The Mick (8:30 p.m., Fox) – When Mickey’s attempts to discipline the kids are ignored, she decides to stop being the cool aunt and lay down the law.

This is Us (9 p.m., NBC) – Rebecca and Jack’s Valentine’s Day doesn’t go as planned. Also, stressed-out Randall struggles under pressures of work and his ailing father.

Fresh Off the Boat (9 p.m., ABC) – Jessica is excluded from the Neighborhood Watch because of her reputation as a non-team player.

NCIS: New Orleans (10 p.m., CBS) – NCIS agents McGee and Torres head to New Orleans to partner with Pride and his team in the search for the missing homeland security terror playbook.
