Disney has canceled the red carpet premiere of "Descendants 3" in the wake of star Cameron Boyce's sudden death Saturday.
The company made the announcement Thursday saying it planned to make a donation to Boyce's favorite charity, The Thirst Project, instead.
"We're proud to be part of Cameron Boyce's legacy by showcasing his talents on screen but we are cancelling the red carpet premiere event for 'Descendants 3' scheduled for July 22," the company said in a statement.
"Instead, The Walt Disney Company will make a donation to the Thirst Project, a philanthropic organization to which Cameron was deeply committed," it said.
Boyce, the longtime Disney Channel star best known for playing Cruella De Vil's teen son Carlos in the smash hit "Descendants" franchise, died unexpectedly Saturday in Los Angeles at age 20.
His family first confirmed the tragic news in a statement that said he "passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated."
A law enforcement source told the Daily News on Monday that Boyce lived with epilepsy.
The county coroner said Thursday that while an official cause of death is still pending a full autopsy report, investigators believe it was due to "natural circumstances."
Boyce's "Descendants" costar Dove Cameron broke down crying as she delivered a heartfelt tribute to her friend in a series of Instagram videos posted Wednesday.
"I've never stuttered or been unable to speak before these last few days. My system is still in shock and my brain is still foggy and full of holes," she said.
"Everyone keeps talking about how talented he was, and he was undoubtedly the most talented person most of us will ever know, but what was special about Cameron was who he was in the small moments when maybe no one was looking, the moments in between the big ones when he didn't have to be good or kind," she said.
"Cameron was always good and kind," she said, wiping tears. "He was selfless and generous. He was magnanimous, and arguable a true philanthropist at only 20. Beloved by anyone lucky enough to experience his light and indescribable energy."
Boyce showed his dedication to others by raising money to build wells for clean drinking water in Swaziland. He was honored with the Pioneering Spirit Award at last year's Thirst Gala, sponsored by the Thirst Project.
"Descendants 3" is set to premiere Aug. 2 on the Disney Channel.
