Building Star Trek (8 p.m., Smithsonian) – In recognition of the TV show’s 50th anniversary, this two-hour special looks at the influence the original “Star Trek” series has had on the world in regard to science and technology. When the show debuted, technology such as hand-held communication devices and touch screens seemed farfetched to many – but not to the show’s visionary creator, Gene Roddenberry. This documentary follows a team from the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum as they try to restore the original 11-foot, 250-pound model of the U.S.S. Enterprise used in the late 1960s series. They’ll also talk to the new generation of scientists and engineers working to turn some of the show’s ideas into reality (tractor beams!).

Chesapeake Shores (9 p.m., Hallmark) – As Abby settles in at her firm’s Baltimore office, she wonders if she can be just friends with Trace.

Fear the Walking Dead (9 p.m., AMC) – Travis has a hard time connecting with Chris while looking for shelter.

Murder in the First (10 p.m., TNT) – In the Season 3 finale, Terry and Hildy race to close a complex case, and a grisly murder hits close to home for the detectives.

BrainDead (10 p.m., CBS) – Luke and Laura race to find Red’s secret agenda, hidden in a massive new budget bill.
