Fox46’s Seshadri moves up to CNN

Seshadri, who grew up in Australia, lived in Europe and interned at CNN early in his career, holds a master’s degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech. …

Astrid Martinez has abruptly departed as a reporter at WBTV (Channel 3). Martinez, who grew up in Medellin, Colombia, and was Miss Colombia USA in 2000, was the reporter on the story about a teen who shot a policeman in Cornelius. Part of the report showed anti-police posts on the youth’s Facebook page that included the hashtag “#(bad word)thepolice.” Regarding Martinez’s departure, news director Dennis Milligan said it was a personnel matter and he could not comment. As for the expletive that made air, he said the picture was inadvertent and slipped through in the rush. Martinez came from a station in Harlingen, Texas, two years ago. …

Michael Clark joins WBTV as South Carolina bureau chief based in Rock Hill. A University of Mississippi graduate, Clark comes from WBTV’s sister Raycom station in Memphis. … Traffic reporter Heather Shelton departs from WCNC (Channel 36). …

Wednesday is “play anything” day on the WNKS-FM (“Kiss” 95.1) morning show with Steve Maney, LauRen Merola and Roy Brown in which they take music requests all day in exchange for donations to Levine Children’s Hospital. Last year they raised $42,000. …

Carowinds Fury 325 roller coaster will be featured in a segment produced by Katherine Johnson on “North Carolina Weekend,” 9 p.m. Thursday on UNC-TV (Channel 58). … Deirdre Conley has been named creative services director at WSOC (Channel 9) after six years in a similar position at the NBC affiliate in Austin, Texas.
