Media Movers: WSOC’s Blair Miller heading north to new job

Blair Miller, WSOC’s (Channel 9) main co-anchor for the past five years, leaves Sept. 4 for a job at the Fox affiliate in Boston, where he will be a reporter and weekend anchor. Miller joined Channel 9 in 2002 from the NBC affiliate in Charleston, where he had worked beside Erica Bryant, who became his partner in the evening newscasts in Charlotte.

“We’ve known each other for 17 years,” says Miller. “We’re like brother and sister.”

Miller’s new station, like WSOC, is owned by Atlanta-based Cox Media Group. WSOC reporters Stephanie Coueignoux and Kathryn Burcham have left recently for the Boston station. Miller’s is another major departure for WSOC: Anchor Natalie Pasquarella is leaving in September to join the NBC affiliate in New York. …

Xavier Walton joins WCNC (Channel 36) as a reporter from the ABC affiliate in Casper, Wyo. … Dianne Gallagher departs from the WCNC morning show and is replaced by Carolyn Bruck from the Fox affiliate in Columbus, Ohio. … WJZY (Channel 46) morning host Page Crawford had to leave the show early for a doctor visit on Thursday to have part of her earpiece – ouch! – extracted from her ear. …

Morgan Fogarty is scheduled to return from maternity leave next week on WCCB’s (Channel 18) 10 p.m. news and “Edge” shows. … Matt Comer departs as editor of QNotes after seven years. …

Ex-Motor Racing Network personalities will return for “Throwback Week” coverage beginning this weekend of the Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Among the classic voices will be Barney Hall, Ned Jarrett, Jack Arute and Eli Gold.
