WSOC’s John Paul named anchor of the year by state broadcasters

WSOC (Channel 9) morning anchor John Paul has been named Anchor of the Year by the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters. Last year’s winner was Allison Latos, who has moved up to the 10 p.m. anchor desk. Paul and Latos had worked together earlier in their careers at the station’s corporate parent, Cox Media. … Former WSOC general manager Lee Armstrong, who retired in 2007, was honored at the NCAB annual meeting with the Wade H. Hargrove Community Leadership Award recognizing her community service in broadcasting. …
