As I’ve become increasingly interested in road cycling, I’ve been keeping an eye out for a new bike computer. While a bike computer can be useful for tracking your performance, it’s also incredibly helpful for navigational purposes. So when I saw Garmin’s Edge 540 bike computer<\/a> on sale for 38% off ahead of Prime Big Deal Days<\/a>, I couldn’t keep it a secret.<\/p>

The Garmin bike computer in question, the Edge 540<\/a>, is a button-controlled road cycling computer. And while it’s useful all-around, it flourishes when it comes to figuring out where you’re going. Its multi-band GNSS technology provides super accurate positional information. Meanwhile, the ‘ClimbPro’ ascent planner lets you know of any ascents to come, so you can plan your efforts accordingly. For performance tracking, it has smart connectivity. This allows you to review your stats including heart rate, power and stamina insights after you’ve finished your ride. It also has daily suggested workouts and training prompts on-screen, in case you’re looking for a little extra guidance.<\/p>

One of the coolest things about the Garmin Edge 540 bike computer<\/a> is that it’s solar-powered. When mounted on your handlebars, it can obtain up to 60 hours of power charging in direct sunlight on battery saver or 32 hours in regular battery mode. That way, you won’t have to worry about it dying while you’re on a ride. However, you can also charge it beforehand in a wall outlet in advance, just in case.<\/p>

This Garmin bike computer<\/a> has a 4.5 out of 5-star rating from nearly 400 people. Shoppers seem to appreciate its reliability and long battery life<\/a>, with many also praising its accuracy. “This bike computer is so cool. It quickly connects to my heart rate monitor and power meter, finds the GPS signal, and is good to ride for hours,” one reviewer says. “I use it with both my indoor trainer and road bike, and it has multiple riding profiles that makes it easy to switch between the two in just a few seconds.”<\/p>
