Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has opened an Iowa office with a storied history.

The Des Moines Register reported Tuesday the political organization he founded has a storefront office in Urbandale, the site of Mitt Romney’s 2012 Iowa general election headquarters. In 2008, the space was the site of Republican nominee John McCain’s Midwest campaign.

Walker, a Republican, has become more popular in recent weeks, since his January 24 speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit was a hit with the 1,000 party activists who gathered to hear potential candidates. He also hada one percentage point lead in the latest Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa Poll over Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky.

The Register reported that two draft movements have also opened offices in the nation’s first caucus state – supporting retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, a Republican, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, a Democrat. Warren has said she’s not interested in running. Carson expects to announce a decision before May 1.
