A Charlotte man and a Kannapolis man were each jailed on $1 million bail this week after being charged in a marijuana trafficking case that stretched from North Carolina to California, authorities said Thursday.
Soukhanh Saengchanh, 36, of Charlotte was charged with trafficking in marijuana, conspiracy to traffic in marijuana and maintaining a vehicle/residence to keep and sell controlled substances.
Sourachay Mysayakhom, 46, of Kannapolis was charged with trafficking in marijuana and conspiracy to traffic in marijuana.
A total of 60 pounds of high-grade marijuana valued at $300,000 was seized in the case, Rowan County sheriff’s investigators said.
The marijuana was shipped in packages through the U.S. Postal Service, investigators said.
On Wednesday, authorities conducted a “controlled delivery” of three U.S Postal Service packages containing about 30 pounds of marijuana to an address in China Grove. The two suspects were then arrested.
