2 men arrested in attempted robbery near UNCC
Police arrested and charged two men in an attempted robbery early Saturday near UNC Charlotte.
Several people told authorities they were walking home about 2:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Campus Pointe Court when they saw a vehicle riding through the parking lot.
The vehicle pulled up to them and a passenger got out. The passenger had a weapon and demanded property, police said the victims told them.

The victims ran off and called 911. They described the vehicle to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers, and a short time later officers from the UNCC Police Department saw a vehicle matching the description pull into a nearby driveway.
Both occupants left the vehicle and were detained by officers. Authorities said they later recovered a stolen firearm in the vehicle.
Victor Alexis Ignacio, 21, and Kevin Romero, 22, both of Charlotte, were each charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.
Romero was jailed on $60,000 bail and Ignacio on $105,000 bail. Ignacio faces unrelated charges of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods.
