The mid-year reports, required for people not participating in a 2008 election, were due July 25. The City Council and school board races will be held next year.

Local candidates running for office this year, including those seeking a seat on the Mecklenburg County commission, filed reports July 10. Any Mecklenburg reports filed this year are available online, said Dustin Elliott, campaign finance specialist for the elections office.
The reports list donors and contributions given to local candidates for office. They were once available only in file cabinets at the elections office, but Mecklenburg this year joined counties posting the information on the Internet.
“We finally got there,” Elliot said. He said his office studied how other counties present the finance information online, and the staff is still tweaking Mecklenburg's site.
“We're going to play with ours and pretty it up, but the bare meat's out there,” he said.
