Park the car Wednesday
Help clear the air: Don't drive Wednesday. That's what UNCCharlotte is asking students, faculty and staff to do.
The Charlotte region had suffered through 21 days of bad air quality through July. August's near-100-degree temperatures haven't helped.
So officials are asking folks to use alternative transportation Wednesday: Ride the bus (CATS); ride light rail (LYNX); car-pool; walk or bicycle to campus; or telecommute.
The Stratford Richardson YMCA will host a party for youths age 13 to 18 from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday at 1946 West Blvd. Guests must enter before 9:30 p.m.
Music and giveaways are planned. Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and other local agencies will offer information about their programs.
General admission is $10. Get a $5 VIP admission card at the YMCA by calling Jessica Williams, 704-716-4818.
